it was still dawn dark this morning, when i was getting ready for work, that i heard a cry outside that reminded me of home and the good old days of childhood -- carefree and sweet --
"pandesal! bili na kayo ng pandesal."
i remember the boy riding his bike early in the morning just before we all sat down at the table for breakfast. it was a time when i saw my parents dip that piece of tasty bread in the coffee and kid to us that as a joke, they say that filipinos are very clean because even their food, they wash first before eating. i remember cutting that piece of bread by fork just to get to the soft part and put on cheese spread...
yes, that was the good old times. now, i live separately from my parents and the pandesal boy rarely pass by our street. besides, the pandesal are quite expensive now.
